Rob helping to clear storm debris on our local trails

Meet our Teen Trail Corp Director Rob!

I’ve lived in the Fredericksburg area since 2010 and started biking in 2018. From the start, I’ve enjoyed volunteering my time to help both maintain and build new trails and it has been extremely rewarding to see the results of many individual’s sweat equity. It’s great to have the feeling when riding the trails to look at a section or feature and say to myself, “I helped build that.” Volunteering time to help maintain the trails is critical to the current status and future of our trails longevity and sustainability. Without volunteers the community would not have the trails to enjoy. Along with my mountain bike I also road bike when the trails are not suitable for riding due to weather. I am currently serving my first term on the Board or Directors for Fredericksburg Trails Alliance as the Membership Coordinator. Through membership and volunteer support, the organization can provide a recreational destination for the community and surrounding areas.

The future holds great things for our local trails and we are lucky to have them.

What is the NICA Teen Trail Corps?

Teen Trail Corps is a program, supported by REI and the Walton Family Foundation, that provides NICA student-athletes the opportunity to serve and give their time towards bike related advocacy activities. It is designed to provide exposure and be a gateway for NICA student-athletes into the world of advocacy.

Student-athlete activities are categorized into five badges that may be earned. The first four are Speak, Serve, Ride and Respect. Once a student-athlete has earned all four, they receive the fifth badge, "Teen Trail Corps Captain."

NICA envisions a future where NICA student-athletes are advocating for and making a significant impact on our cycling environment.
